If You Could Only Snare One Animal!

If I could only snare one kind of animal I would be having some serious fits! I like snaring about all that is legal for me. I've been blessed to be able to snare many different animals over the years.

If I only could snare one species, I would have a hard time with that one. Even as I type these very words I am not certain what it would be...

LOL!

I really like snaring fox and mink.... and beaver and bobcat.... not to forget coyote and coon. LOL!

To be honest, it's hard for me to decide, but I'm steering heavily towards the mink.... but then the beaver as they are easy to snare and there would always be constant action! I like action!

If I can get my setup right so that I could put 'em down at the set, I'd have to say coon. They are just plain fun to snare and you can snare them so many ways-crossing logs, bank trails, logs angling into the water-man it's fun!

I snare several coon, a few beaver, an occasional skunk, even a few possum, but there is something about seeing a big red fox in my set that makes me feel awful good....so I'm definently choosing red fox....or coyote....or... OK, red fox! ;D

Like ADC, I've had some luck with coon and beaver, but it really keys me up to see a red in a snare. Now after I get that first cat... we'll see.

I would go with beaver as that is what I have the most experience with but to tell you the truth , I love to snare anything I can match wits with and I can tell you , it can be VERY humbling dealing with critters in the snow !!!

this is a tough question, or is it a trick question? I can`t decide between the elusive opossum or the coyote so I`m picking the bobcat. Love them spots!!

Coon. Cause I've only snared one animal and it was a coon so thats why.

Just make sure you keep enough ratholed just in case you get to visit the local horsepital. I've tied enough of them this year to hold me over till next.
That top one is a russian cross. It took two of us to lay it over. It tipped the scales at 334 lbs and was ready for action.
I make my snares out of 1/8th 7x7 or 1x19 with extra heavy duty sure locks. At times I'd like a larger cable, especially when you walk up on one and it hits the end of the cable at a full charge. The locks are a one time deal as they total them out. I've had a few of the locks ripped apart but most will bend and kink the cable so it locks up nice and snug.
I got some cams and wanted to try them to see how they hold up, but I've got my doughts.
I usually run a 20"-24" loop with around 4"-6" ground clearence. If I've got a big-un located I'll up the loop to 28".
This aint like coyote and cat snaring. These critters want a piece of you,,, BAD.
