It was three years ago when I was running my fox and coyote line. There was alot of coyotes tracks along a gravel road with hardley any traffic, I set a trap on both sides of the road. I was checking them early on a sunday morning before my wife wanted me home to go to church. I had a skunk in one the traps that morning so I got my pole and syringe out and dispatch the skunk, I put my pole away and was kneeling by the skunk, and about to remove the essence with the syringe, when I heard a four wheeler coming down the road so I turned my head around to see who it was, they just drove by as I turned around all I seen was a black tail straight up in the air pointing at face was the skunks butt. He let out a string of essence right between the eyes I started gasping for air I was blinded until I crossed the road and jumped into the ditch with water in it and started splashing water on my face until I could see alittle. I jumped into my pickup and was speeding home with my head out the window, I arrived home about the time my familey was going to church, I pulled into the driveway and she said I was late until she got a whiff of skunk, and the tears started running, she told me to get into the shed and strip down to my underwear. She ran up town and got tomato juice and lemons. well it did'nt seem to help with the smell. Time helped with smell. About a week or two after it happend we were driving down the road and I sneezed and she smelled skunk.
