hold a high potential for a hard working trapper to turn the biggest profit monetarily. You would need a large population, lax bag limits, high dollar furs, soft regulations allowing a varity of traps and snares, decent weather potential, ect...

hdwolfer is probably right. You have to look at the cost of travel--if your visiting, living--if your thinking of moving. Where is stands now, someplace with lots of large, white bellied, well spotted cats and otter would look good...but for how long? I guess wolves and wolverine can be profitable, but access and costs in those areas are probably things to reckon with. Seems like those who do well, trap heavy in their own areas and then do some trips out of state to target other fur not as available where they are at. I wonder if sometimes many make more with extremely large catches of less valuable fur than with smaller catches of the big money fur. ..my .02.

You cant make money or very little money on an out of state trips. Not anymore. Back in the 70's and 80's it was a maybe at best untill you began to know your country well. I always figured if I broke even the first trip, I was doing real well. After that then I began to catch more and with less expence and made a little more money. Today I try to break even if I can. Some years I do, and some years I dont. But thats ok with me as I dont need the money anyway. Just the fun is all. Steve
