With snaring and trapping I have learned sometimes it's best to listen to my instincts and also trust my hunches based on prior experiences. I also realized that often on the line when it comes times to set a snare location that is "iffy", it's easy to say..."nah", and pass it over. I also learned to tell myself setting a snare only takes a couple of minutes... go set that location! I use to access this small foot trail that went from an area I use to park at then walked through the woods to a lake shore where I was snaring mink and muskrat. As I got near the shoreline, I noticed a slight open area that an occasional coon or skunk might pass down. I learned from passed experiences even though I talked myself that it's not a good location, it only takes 2 minutes to put a snare there! I figured since I have to walk by this spot anyway, I might as well set a snare. The location is facing east and is 20 feet from the shoreline. If you notice, the fox is expired, but not by entanglement and the area isn't trashed. This is a clue the cable & lock combination matched good. So when talking to yourself on your line and you see a location that is "iffy", often it's best to just set snare and see if it works... especially if you have to pass that location anyway! You can look at see the trail going straight away in the photo. It looks more obvious than it really was. Snareman
