What is your favorite way to hook your cable to your cam locks to get a loop that hangs right? I use a double ferrule but sometimes get a little twist. Some guys use "S" or "J" hooks. Have seen some snares that just ran the cable through the hole and bent it over with a stop on it. I kinda would like to go the route using "S" hooks but the breakaways are a little pricey. Would like to find a source of cheap ones to use. Wouldn't have to breakaway because of our regs. Lets hear your thoughts and or ideas.

When not using a compression spring and the snares are made to dispatch, then the 90 degree bend with just having a stop on the end is what I prefer. If making larger snares, like for wolves or maybe hogs, etc, then I use the double ferrule for the added strength. As long as you're careful aligning things up before you bend the cable into the ferrule, you'll be fine. The s-hooks are nice for setting up the springs because then everything is line with the way the loop closes and pulls making the compression easier. I don't like the j-hook on camlocs due to the components being twisted. If you're snaring coon, bobcat or fox, there's some stock chain that comes in length that "looks" like some seller's j-hooks that you could use effectively and cheap. As far as they're break-a-way strength, I haven't done the testing yet, but will later this year to check their consistency. Snareman
